I have been looking for quite a while for a song. SO many sound good! My dad was a marine, and has always been tough on me, but We are pretty darn close! I’m a daddy’s girl, that’s the truth! Nobody has ever seen him dance before. he isn’t one for being in the spotlight, but he has agreed to do a father daughter dance with me. my father was over seas at the beginning of my life. I believe i was 2 when he came back, he missed my first 2 birthdays. Are there any songs out there that may go with our life? I thought about the song Zoe Jane by Staind. i love that song, but not sure if there are any more out there like this one. I’m going to be making a cd of all my songs that i like for my dad to listen to and give me his input. any ideas?

Sarah, I hope you read the entire article, where in section 4, I write about your very situation. I suggest you ask Steve if he would like o share a special moment on the dancefloor with you to honor him for all he’s done for you…ask him if there’s a song he would like to dance to but also have some backups available in case he’s speechless! Hopefully, he’ll be touched and the two of you will have a great time, you don’t have to dance to the whole song, just a little of it, then ask the DJ to fade it out and ask the guests to applaud the two of you…Make sure the DJ/MC is clear when he announces this dance that Steve is a special person in your life and has been there for you in a lot and that Sarah is honoring steve tonight with a special dance, you don’t even need to mention the words “Father/Daughter” unless you want to say something like ” the Father Daughter dance is traditionally the dance that opens the dance floor, and tonight our Bride Sarah will honor an important person in her life with a very special dance, Steve has been a partner to Sarah’s mum and a great influence in Sarah’s life, and she would like to have this dance with him to honor him…
Pick a song you both love, not too sappy, but something fun and sweet.

OK let see who can help me with this…. my mums partner of 12 years will be giving me away – we are not particularly close but he has always been there when i have needed him. My biological dad isnt around , through my personal choice – I hate him and so does my family, and referring to steve as ‘my dad’ would not be good as he wouldnt be too happy to be associated with my biological father. However, he is giving me away and I would really like to have some sort of father/daughter dance, but this is proving difficult considering the circumstances.
Any help with this would be appreciated!

I would definitely include the song “Daddy Don’t Let Go” by Out of Ether. I danced with my Dad to that song at my wedding. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room. LOVE this song!!
